Halloween 2010

We were so excited for Maile's first Halloween! We actually had plans to go to the pumpkin patch yesterday, but it was raining so we decided to wait until today.  It worked out great because Grandma Jane came down and went with us and it was just too much fun! I thought about taking her to Sears or Babies R Us and getting her pictures done, but I'm so glad that we just did them ourselves because they turned out great.  Hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed taking them.  Happy Halloween!

We are pleased to introduce Maile the Smiley Cow.....

Maile and Grandma Jane

The pumpkin patch had so many places for great photo-ops. I couldn't resist this cute swing!

A little Mommy and Maile time!

Possible Christmas card??? Maybe.

SO happy to be with her daddy!

Catalina Crossing 2010

It is Paul's 30th birthday on Monday so when I asked him what he wanted to do, he said he wanted to paddle in the Catalina race.  He did it last year and because of money/timing, I wasn't able to go with him.  So we figured that we would take the ferry up on Saturday and make a little mini vacation out of it.  We had such a good time! I can't believe that I had never been to Catalina before.  Maile was such a good little girl too! We would love to go back sometime soon and rent a golf cart and really get to see the island. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed our weekend.

Maile had so much fun on the ferry ride over to the island.  She is such a people watcher and will seriously stare at someone until she can get their attention and then flirts with them like crazy!

I know its hard to believe, but she really is like this about 90% of the time...how lucky are we??

We were in Catalina on September 11th, so they were flying the flag at half mast.

All Smiles!

Apparently there are buffalo on the island.  We however, only saw this crazy beast! Maybe next time we will see the real deal.

It got pretty chilly over there in the evening and I just couldn't resist taking pictures of Maile wearing her hoodie!

This is a picture of the start of Paul's race.  It's kind of hard to see, but all of the boats were lined just past the pier.  It was the first time that I actually got to see the start of a race in so long!  All in all, it was a great weekend!

Where did the summer go?

And before I knew it, September was here! I had such an amazing time with Maile this summer and I am so grateful that I got to stay home with her for the past 10 weeks. August was a busy month for us because Paul finally got a job and headed back to work full-time and it seems like every weekend we were out of town for one reason or another. Now that I have one full week of working under my belt, I know that I am going to have to plan ahead for everything so that I can continue to juggle being a mom, wife, and teacher.  It was a bit harder than I thought, but I'm sure it will get easier. (I hope)

I had been so excited to start feeding Maile solid foods since she met all the requirements (4 mos. old, doubled birth weight, and seemed interested in food) so I though that I would get her used to sitting in her high chair.  This is the first time she sat in it and she looks so tiny! Unfortunately she still hasn't been able to start any foods because we just discovered that she has a milk allergy. She has to be 2 weeks without any symptoms before we can get her started. I can't wait!

Maile is just the happiest little baby ever! She flirts with everyone and anyone that will give her the time of day. Paul and I really feel very lucky that she is such a good baby and are anticipating a challenge with any future kids. She loves standing up and making funny faces at us.

Maile loves to play and grab things above her. She has started to hold on to things and has such a strong grip that sometime she pulls them right off of whatever they are attached to.  She has also started to get her feet and legs in on the action too.

She has also become quite the little flasher! Anytime that she has on a shirt or dress, you can guarantee that she will pull it up and put it up in her mouth. Watch out mardi gras!

She went to her very first bridal shower in August and she had to show off her adorable little dress and headband! She finally got to meet most of Grandma Jane's sisters and nieces.

The day after she went to her first bridal shower, she went to her first baby shower. She had so much fun that it just wore her out! I swear this girl will sleep just about anywhere (like father like daughter). She also can't wait to meet baby Olivia, I think they are going to be BFF's!

Tummy time is becoming easier on her and she is definitely more comfortable on her tummy. Every time we lay her down now she automatically rolls over. She is also starting to bring her knees in and put her little behind in the air! Practicing for crawling...

So, she's not so much a thumb sucker as she is a thumb chewer! I think she might be teething since she is a drool machine lately.

We spent the last weekend in August at Grandma Jane and Papa Geno's.  It was Jane and Malia's birthdays and we had a great time with all of the family. It was actually the first time that everyone had been together since before Maile was born. She certainly is loved!

We had a bit of a scare this week as Maile's little cough turned into something that sounded like it should be coming from seal at Sea World. When we couldn't get into urgent care, we ended up at the ER. They took xrays, gave her some meds to open her chest, and had her breathe some oxygen. It turns out she has croup and it should go away within the week. Its so sad to see such a helpless little person look, act and feel so sick! She is already feeling better and hopefully we won't have to go back to the ER anytime soon.

We also had her 4 month check yesterday. She seems to be doing well (besides having the milk allergy and croup) and is growing like a little weed! She weighs 15 lbs (65th percentile) and is about 26 inches long (95th percentile).
