And before I knew it, September was here! I had such an amazing time with Maile this summer and I am so grateful that I got to stay home with her for the past 10 weeks. August was a busy month for us because Paul finally got a job and headed back to work full-time and it seems like every weekend we were out of town for one reason or another. Now that I have one full week of working under my belt, I know that I am going to have to plan ahead for everything so that I can continue to juggle being a mom, wife, and teacher. It was a bit harder than I thought, but I'm sure it will get easier. (I hope)
I had been so excited to start feeding Maile solid foods since she met all the requirements (4 mos. old, doubled birth weight, and seemed interested in food) so I though that I would get her used to sitting in her high chair. This is the first time she sat in it and she looks so tiny! Unfortunately she still hasn't been able to start any foods because we just discovered that she has a milk allergy. She has to be 2 weeks without any symptoms before we can get her started. I can't wait!
Maile is just the happiest little baby ever! She flirts with everyone and anyone that will give her the time of day. Paul and I really feel very lucky that she is such a good baby and are anticipating a challenge with any future kids. She loves standing up and making funny faces at us.
Maile loves to play and grab things above her. She has started to hold on to things and has such a strong grip that sometime she pulls them right off of whatever they are attached to. She has also started to get her feet and legs in on the action too.
She has also become quite the little flasher! Anytime that she has on a shirt or dress, you can guarantee that she will pull it up and put it up in her mouth. Watch out mardi gras!
She went to her very first bridal shower in August and she had to show off her adorable little dress and headband! She finally got to meet most of Grandma Jane's sisters and nieces.
The day after she went to her first bridal shower, she went to her first baby shower. She had so much fun that it just wore her out! I swear this girl will sleep just about anywhere (like father like daughter). She also can't wait to meet baby Olivia, I think they are going to be BFF's!
Tummy time is becoming easier on her and she is definitely more comfortable on her tummy. Every time we lay her down now she automatically rolls over. She is also starting to bring her knees in and put her little behind in the air! Practicing for crawling...
So, she's not so much a thumb sucker as she is a thumb chewer! I think she might be teething since she is a drool machine lately.
We spent the last weekend in August at Grandma Jane and Papa Geno's. It was Jane and Malia's birthdays and we had a great time with all of the family. It was actually the first time that everyone had been together since before Maile was born. She certainly is loved!
We had a bit of a scare this week as Maile's little cough turned into something that sounded like it should be coming from seal at Sea World. When we couldn't get into urgent care, we ended up at the ER. They took xrays, gave her some meds to open her chest, and had her breathe some oxygen. It turns out she has croup and it should go away within the week. Its so sad to see such a helpless little person look, act and feel so sick! She is already feeling better and hopefully we won't have to go back to the ER anytime soon.
We also had her 4 month check yesterday. She seems to be doing well (besides having the milk allergy and croup) and is growing like a little weed! She weighs 15 lbs (65th percentile) and is about 26 inches long (95th percentile).
